Melissa started having contractions at 6 pm this evening. At the time we were out doing errands and the contractions stayed steady and increased in intensity (or so she tells me).
6:45 - Melissa called one of the at least 7 people who have offered to watch our kids and informed them that we might be heading into the hospital.
6:46 - Melissa decides to take a shower before going into the hospital
7:30 - Jake tells Melissa if she doesn't hurry up with her hair curling she may not have enough time to get the mandatory 500 cc of IV fluids for her epidural (gotta please the anesthesia docs).
7:45 - Kids get dropped off at the Wells, a giant thanks to you and to everyone else who would have eagerly watched our kids as well. Spender doesn't even say goodbye as he runs into the house.
8:00 - Jake gets a sinking feeling as we drive up to the hospital and he realizes he will be spending the night in that prison.
8:01 - Jake rejoices as he realizes that he has no patient responsibility during this night in the prison.
8:15 - Melissa is checked and a fellow resident (she's had resident's at every other delivery so why not this one) tells me she is 5 1/2 cm 70% effaced.
9:00 - We get moved across the hall to a nicer room.
9:15 - Fluids are going, epidural is ordered, OB notified plan to break water when epidural is in.
Stay tuned for future updates.
